Ionization energy does not increase?
Ionization energy does not increase? (a)with small atomic radius of atom (b)it increase in no of electronic shells (c)By increase in proton no of atom (d)None of these
i am assuming here that it is about the first ionisation energy:-
if we have small atomic radius then it should result in higher ionisation energy as in this case the electrons would be strongly attracted to the neucleus of the atom so it will become harder to remove the electron hence ionisation energy increase.
if the number of electron shells increases it means that the size of the atom increases and if atom is of bigger size then the attraction between the outermost electron and the nucleus will decrease which will result in lower IE.
if the number of protons are increasing which means nuclear charge is increasing then nucleus is going attract the electron more strongly this will result in increase in ionisation energy.
