# How to Calculate mass if density and volume are given?

Submitted by oneupj on Tue, 09/15/2009 - 18:03

I need help trying to figure out this problem on mass. Ok. Here is the problem. I need to calculate the mass of each object given. Gold-density=19.3 g/cm cubed, Sand-denisty=3.00g/cm cubed, and the volume is the same for each object- 1.75 L. What is confusing me is the g/cm cubed and L. Am I supposed to convert liters to grams and how to set up the problem would help me out. I appreciate any help because I sure need it right now. Thanks

Just use the numbers and multiply density x mass... that is the basic formula..the answer will still be in cm(3)

sorry you do need to convert the liters to millileters...multiply by 1000....1 mL = 1 cm(3)

sorry man i am almost asleep forgive me that's 1.75 / 1ooo to convert to milliliters

With a little research you could find conversion tables online  try this one i found it on http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/sci/A0813058.html
