Finding Asymmetrical Carbons in R and S Isomers
In the following compound label the asymmetric carbon(s) present as either R or S:
I was looking at some of the other problems, and I am stumped on how the instructor determined the asymmetric carbons. Isn't the carbon supposed to be connected to four DIFFERENT atoms or groups?
a) the carbon bonded to the bromine is asymmetric
b) the carbon bonded to the hydroxide is asymmetric
