1.A 1.01 volume of gas at 27.0 degrees exerts a pressure of 85.5 kPa. What will the pressure be at a 127C? Assume the constant volume. 

2.A sample of nitrogen has a volume of 275 mL at 237 K. The sample is heated and the volume becomes 325 mL. What is the new temperature in kelvins?


3.A sample of air with volume 6.6x10^7 L changes pressure from 99.4 kPa to 88.8kPa. Assuming constant temperature, what is the new volume?

4.A sample of gas in a closed container at a temperature of 100degrees C and pressure of 3.0 atm is heated to 300degreesC. what pressure does the gas exert at the higher temperature?

Can somebody show me the show me the work with answers using the correct formula? that'd be pretty awesome.

You need to apply the equation P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2 where P=pressure, V=volume and T = temperature.

If T is constant then use P1V1=P2V2. If pressure is constant use V1/T1 = V2/T2. If volume is constant, then use P1/T1= P2/T2

Temperatures need to be in K so add 273 to the celsius temperature.

1) T2 = 27+273, T1 = 127 +273.

P1/T1= P2/T2, so P1/400 = 85.5/300 and P1 = (85.5/300) x 400

2) assume the pressure is constant.

for 3 use P1V1 = P2 V2

99.4 * 6.6.x 10^7 = 88.8*V2

 

for 4 ) again  use P1/T1= P2/T2

make sure to convert temperature to kelvins
