Chemical reactions as word equations

Write the word equation for the following chemical reaction:

1. In the first step of refining zinc metal from its zinc sulfide ore, the ore is heated in the presence of oxygen. The products are solid zinc oxide and sulfur dioxide gas.

2. The next step of refining zinc involves heating the zinc oxide in the presence of carbon. This reaction produces zinc vapor and carbon monoxide gas.

Word equations just list the names of the reactants and products separated by a yield sign (a reaction arrow).  So the big thing is to carefully read over the problem and decide what you started with  (reactants) and what you end up with (products).

1. In the first step of refining zinc metal from its zinc sulfide ore, the ore is heated in the presence of oxygen. The products are solid zinc oxide and sulfur dioxide gas.

zinc sulfide  +   Oxygen     -->    zinc oxide    +  sulfur dioxide

2. The next step of refining zinc involves heating the zinc oxide in the presence of carbon. This reaction produces zinc vapor and carbon monoxide gas.

zinc oxide      +  carbon    --->    zinc    +  carbon monoxide

thanks
